Will interviewers or proctors see the overlay?

In the vast majority of video calls and screen shares (Zoom, Teams, Meet, and the like), no. The overlay stays on your screen and nowhere else, so what they see is your normal desktop. Some proctoring and lockdown tools are not supported, and on those the overlay can be visible. GhostAssist is not designed to defeat exam or proctoring software that prohibits external assistance, so please do not rely on it where it is forbidden.

Do I have to configure anything to stay private?

No. The overlay is private by default the moment you launch GhostAssist. There is nothing to toggle, no checklist to run before a call, and no separate stealth tier to upgrade to. It just works on Zoom, Teams, Meet, OBS, Snipping Tool, Game Bar, and browser-based screen share.

Can I test that it's invisible before an interview?

Yes. Open a screen recording or start a Zoom meeting with yourself, enable screen share, and confirm the overlay is absent in the recording. Always verify on your specific setup before high-stakes use.

What are the system requirements?

Windows 10 (build 1903 or later) or Windows 11. 8 GB RAM minimum, 16 GB recommended. An internet connection is required to reach AI models. A microphone and system audio output are required for meeting transcription. The overlay adapts to all display configurations including multi-monitor.

How do I install and activate GhostAssist?

Download the installer and run it. No admin rights required. Open GhostAssist and import your license file using the activation screen. The license binds to your machine. The overlay is ready immediately.

Partially. The overlay works offline, but AI answers and meeting transcription both require an internet connection. Sessions are stored locally once created.

No. GhostAssist is built for Windows only. The stealth technique is Windows-native and there is no macOS or Linux version planned.

Which AI models does it use?

GhostAssist uses a top-tier frontier AI model as its primary engine. If it is unavailable or rate-limited, GhostAssist automatically falls back to other top-tier models. You do not choose the model; the app manages this transparently.

Can I use my own API key (BYOK)?

Yes. GhostAssist supports Bring Your Own API Key (BYOK) for Anthropic and OpenRouter as AI providers, plus Deepgram for transcription. Anthropic is not required: you can reach top frontier models through OpenRouter alone. Enter your keys in app settings and all requests route through your account, giving you full control over billing and usage limits.

What is the license file?

Your license is what unlocks GhostAssist on your computer. You receive it by email immediately after purchase, then import it once inside the app to activate. You can always re-download it from your dashboard if you misplace the email.

Can I install on a new computer?

Yes. Log into your dashboard and click Reset Activation. This unbinds your license from the old machine so you can import it on the new one. You can do this once every 30 days.

Can I use GhostAssist on multiple machines simultaneously?

No. One license is valid for one machine at a time. Reset your activation via the dashboard to move to a different machine.

Yes. Session data (transcripts, questions, answers) is stored on your local file system only. There is no GhostAssist server storing your meeting content. The only outbound traffic is queries sent to AI model APIs and the answers returned.

GhostAssist captures audio for transcription during a session. The transcript and AI responses are written to a local session file on your machine. Nothing is uploaded to GhostAssist's servers.

When you ask a question, GhostAssist sends the relevant context (your question and relevant meeting transcript fragments) to the AI model API. GhostAssist itself does not store or process this data on its own servers.
